Beans, beans...

I love beans and boy, do I use them a bunch in the winter. Bean soup, chili, ect. Recently, I have taken to buying beans in bulk, soaking and canning them on my own. I saves me cash and I just enjoy doing it. There is something conforting knowing that there are yummy beans just waiting for us in the basement.

I can up some plain beans with a little salt to use in chili. Here are some of the Jacob's Cattle beans that we grew last summer and stored till now. I love that we are eating beans that we grew! What a blessing!
I always like to try something new when I can. These two jars are an experiment with ham and bean soup. I filled up the jars as the other jars and added a handful of chopped ham that my mom had in the freezer and 1 tbsp. of sautéed onions, celery and carrots (in butter, of course). I have not tried them yet but can't wait!!
These are the beans that I like the most. These are chili beans and oh are they yummy! I found the recipe on a video on Linda's Pantry on YouTube. She had tons of recipes and will show you how to make them. These have spices and I also add in garlic, pepper, hot pepper and onion. I did goof up this time and added WAY to much chili powder to two jars. I think that they will go to my father-in-law and my step-dad. I am looking forward to eating all of these yummy beans!
